Vice President of Clinical Services

Ann Selander serves as Vice President of Clinical Services, with direct responsibility for overseeing the Hospital Directors in the Mountain West Region, including WestVet Boise and MedVet Northern Utah. In this role, Ann is a collaborative thought leader working in partnership with colleagues at all levels to help drive the organization forward in pursuit of the mission, Leading Specialty Healthcare for Pets.

Most recently, Ann was hospital administrator of WestVet Boise, having joined forces with Dr. Jeff Brourman in July 2005 when WestVet was established. As hospital administrator, she has gained a strong background in HR, IT, Marketing, Finance, and Operations in a growing emergency and specialty hospital.

Prior to WestVet, Ann was hospital director of the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Idaho (AERCI). Before joining AERCI, Ann was a practice manager and certified technician for a local Referral Partner.

Ann earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and completed two years of graduate studies in animal behavior before deciding to pursue a veterinary career. She obtained her Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) and after several years as a practice manager, decided it was time to continue her education. She earned her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager Certification (CVPM) in 2005 and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2006.

Ann’s interest in the profession goes back to her teens. She once transported her Tonkinese cat down to the local veterinarian on her bike to be treated for worms and after lots of laughter was offered a job which she gladly accepted and worked until graduating from high school. While there she cleaned kennels, mowed the lawn, took care of weekend boarders, mucked out barns, went on adventures to birth calves and sheep, treat horses, and see the occasional donkey or goat.

Ann has remained in the profession all these years because she adores the people attracted to veterinary medicine. Her career path has also allowed her to explore and develop in numerous aspects of business management.

Married to Drew, Ann has two great kids (Ally and Anderson) and a trifecta of Siamese (Cheddar, Willet, and Buxton). In her ‘spare’ time she loves to camp, bird watch, fish, and travel with her family.
