Amy Hoover, DVM is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Silicon Valley where she has been a part of the team since 2016. Dr. Hoover earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in Auburn, AL, graduating Cum Laude.
During her veterinary education, Dr. Hoover had the opportunity to volunteer her time at Noah’s Ark. She worked with a multitude of animals including “BLT,” a trio made up of a Bengal tiger, an African lion, and an American black bear raised together after being rescued as juveniles. She is currently completing her rotating internship at MedVet Silicon Valley in emergency, surgery, oncology, internal medicine, and neurology.
Dr. Hoover has a special interest in wound repair, endoscopy, trauma, and soft tissue surgery. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is solving the mystery of underlying disease and creating a treatment plan that benefits her patients.
When not in the ER, Dr. Hoover can be found traveling, both locally and internationally, spending time with her husband, Travis, her dog, Greyson, and cat, Pearl. She also volunteers for the California Medical Reserve.
