Caeley J. Melmed, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (SAIM), is a board-certified Veterinary Internist and Medical Director at MedVet Grapevine. Dr. Melmed is an alumna of Texas A&M University, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science, as well as her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Following veterinary school, she pursued a yearlong small animal internship at The Ohio State University and subsequently returned to Texas A&M for a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine, where she received extensive training in gastrointestinal disease and endoscopic procedures. Following her board certification, Dr. Melmed practiced as an internist within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for five years before founding the Veterinary Medicine Specialists (VMS) hospital in 2008.
Dr. Melmed’s interest in medicine began as a young child when she would join her father (a physician) as he tended weekend on-call duty. While she enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, she also has a special interest in ultrasound, kidney disease, immune-mediated diseases and oncology. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Melmed enjoys participating in and providing continuing education and has lectured on the use of feeding tubes, kidney disease, anemia, oncology, as well as the process of critical decision making for doctors.
When outside of the clinic, Dr. Melmed enjoys backpacking through foreign countries and shares a farm of 40 various animals with her husband and two young children.
