Charlotte Burns, VMD, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian who joined the MedVet Chicago team in July 2020. Dr. Burns earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA followed by her Veterinary Medicine Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She then completed a Rotating Medicine and Surgery Internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York, NY.
Since completing her internship, Dr. Burns has authored scientific papers including Retrospective evaluation of outpatient canine parvovirus treatment in a shelter‐based low‐cost urban clinic published in the Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Critical Care. She is also an active advocate of continuing education for veterinary professionals and has lectured on various small animal emergency and critical care topics.
Dr. Burns is excited to help patients with diverse medical needs with MedVet’s specialty teams and appreciates having the privilege to support both pets and their families during stressful medical emergencies. Her special interests include trauma, shock, coagulopathies, and infectious disease.
When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Burns enjoys gardening, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her cat, Khan.
