Derek Standlee, DVM, MPH is a Rotating Intern who joined the MedVet Chicago team in June 2020. Dr. Standlee earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and Master of Public Health degree from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in North Grafton, MA.
In addition to maintaining a special interest in diagnostic imaging, Dr. Standlee sees unraveling the mystery of what caused a pet to fall ill as the main factor that drew him to veterinary medicine. His favorite part of being a veterinarian remains seeing families reunited with their pets when they leave the hospital.
When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Standlee is an avid baker and enjoys spending time gardening and woodworking.
