Ersin Ulke, VMD is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Asheville where he has been a part of the team since 2014. A native of the city, Dr. Ulke attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. Before pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, he started his career as a management consultant in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2006, Dr. Ulke turned to veterinarians to treat his dog for a severe autoimmune disease. He was so inspired by the veterinarians who cared for his dog that he made the decision to leave the corporate world and join them as colleagues.
Dr. Ulke completed a pre-medical baccalaureate program at Temple University and then earned his Veterinary Medicine Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He went on to complete a rotating internship at Pennsylvania Specialty and Emergency Associates in Philadelphia, PA during which he received training in cardiology, dermatology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, radiology, and surgery. It was through this experience that he developed a strong passion for emergency medicine and made it the focus of his veterinary career.
Dr. Ulke and his wife, an Asheville native, both love Asheville’s city and beautiful countryside. They made it a goal to relocate to Asheville once they both completed training in Philadelphia, PA. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and his two dogs, an Anatolian Shepherd and a Cockapoo. His hobbies include cycling, hiking, camping, reading, and cooking.
