Kate Spies, DVM is a Specialty Intern in Veterinary Surgery at WestVet Boise where she joined the team in July 2020. Dr. Spies earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and minor in Pre-Medical studies from the University of Maine in Orona, ME. She furthered her education at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Pullman, WA where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Spies then completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Tufts Foster Hospital for Small Animals in Grafton, MA.
Dr. Spies maintains a special interest in soft tissue surgery. She has also authored a publication regarding feline fecal occule blood testing. Her favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is honoring the human animal bond
When not caring for patients, Dr. Spies can be found running, Nordic skiing, painting, reading, or writing.
