Dr. Okonkowski attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following her undergraduate studies, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in East Lansing, MI. Dr.Okonkowski then completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in Pittsburgh, PA and a residency in Internal Medicine back at her Alma Mater, Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI.
Dr. Okonkowski has authored publications regarding hypoadrenocorticism, canine infectious respiratory disease complex, and T-cell lymphoma. She maintains a special interest in hepatic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and endocrine disorders. Dr. Okonkowski’s favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is the relationships built with her patients and their families. Dr. Okonkowski prides herself on being a doctor of honesty and integrity, and always treats her patients as if they are her own pet and her clients as if they are family.
In her free time, Dr. Okonkowski loves to swim and was a varsity competitive swimmer at Hillsdale College. She could not give up the water following her undergraduate years, so she joined a Masters Swim Team while in veterinary school and continued throughout her residency. She hopes to join a swim team here in Dayton soon.
