Dr. Olivia Oubre joins the Emergency teams at MedVet Columbus and MedVet Hilliard. Dr. Oubre is native to Lafayette, LA, and received both her Animal Science degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduation, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ. She has since practiced emergency veterinary medicine at Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists in Tulsa, OK, and general veterinary medicine in both Louisiana and Texas.
In addition to her traditional veterinary education, Dr. Oubre is also certified in both veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and canine rehabilitation therapy through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. She is passionate about combining these services with conventional medicine to improve patient quality of life, especially with neurologic and geriatric cases.
While Dr. Oubre enjoys many aspects of medicine, as an emergency veterinarian she has special interest in point-of-care ultrasonography, endocrine emergencies, and toxicology. She enjoys the challenge of managing the variety of cases presenting to the ER, and the reward of providing life-saving treatment and compassionate care when pets need it most.
When Dr. Oubre is not busy caring for patients, she spends time with Diego, her island dog rescue from Puerto Rico. She also enjoys practicing yoga, painting, and hiking US national parks.
