Simon Kornberg, BVSc, Diplomate, ACVIM (Neurology) is a board-certified Veterinary Neurologist & Neurosurgeon at MedVet Norwalk where he has been a part of the team since September 2020. Dr. Kornberg was born and raised in the city of Melbourne in Australia and attended the University of Melbourne where he studied veterinary science. He also completed a rotating internship at Queensland Veterinary Specialists in Stafford Heights in Australia. Dr. Kornberg then came to the United States to complete a Neurology & Neurosurgery Residency at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Starkville, MS. Prior to joining MedVet, he has practiced in both Miami, FL and New York, NY.
Dr. Kornberg has extensive experience in both medical neurology and neurosurgery including seizures, spinal issues, congenital malformations, head trauma, brain tumors, Chiari-like malformations, and inflammatory conditions. He is trained in the use of cavitronic ultrasonic aspiration, which aids in the removal of brain and spinal tumors with minimal tissue trauma and bleeding. This allows for a greater amount of resection of both intra and extraxial tumors, while sparing blood vessels. He is also trained in intraoperative ultrasound guided interventions, which allow for access to tumors located within the brain parenchyma. Dr. Kornberg utilizes an operating microscope when needed, to give the best possible visualization through the smallest openings, minimizing trauma and maximizing removal of tumor or disk compression.
When away from the hospital, Dr. Kornberg enjoys spending time with his cat (Thomas) and his dogs (Monterrey and Freddie).
