MedVet Hilliard recently earned re-certification as a Level II veterinary emergency and critical care facility by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). This certification means that MedVet Hilliard has met and exceeded these prestigious standards of emergency veterinary care, and is fully-equipped with the resources and highly-skilled team necessary to provide this sophisticated emergency and critical care medicine to pets 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“This certification is a testament to MedVet Hilliard’s commitment to providing the highest quality medical care and service available to our avian, canine, feline and exotic companion animals throughout the Hilliard/central Ohio community and surrounding states, and exemplifies MedVet’s pledge to put the needs of our patients, clients, and referral partners first,” states Dr. Linda Lehmkuhl, Chief Executive Officer of MedVet.

“MedVet Hilliard employs a team of experienced emergency medicine doctors and a compassionate healthcare team who are available for emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” states Katie Quinter, DVM, Emergency Medicine, and Medical Director of MedVet Hilliard.

The purpose of this certification is to raise the standards of veterinary emergency care and to increase awareness about emergency services that are available for pets who have suffered an acute injury or severe illness. MedVet Hilliard initially earned this certification in April 2017.

“The ability to maintain this elite status is a testament to the high quality, progressive medicine that the team at MedVet Hilliard practices on a daily basis,” states Joe DeFulio, Vice President of Clinical Services, MedVet.

Obtaining this level of certification required MedVet Hilliard to meet the standards of care as defined by the VECCS. These standards include having the ability to evaluate, stabilize, and treat any small animal emergency, and having access to state-of-the-art equipment and resources, including a dedicated surgical preparation area. It also requires that a specialist who is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology is available for consultations 24/7.
