Ann Selander

Vice President of Healthcare Process Excellence

Ann Selander serves as Vice President of Healthcare Process Excellence. In this role, Ann will lead healthcare change management for identified goals and focus on accountability for executing project outcomes that focus on continuous improvement in delivering the MedVet Experience.

Most recently, Ann was Vice President of Clinical Services with direct responsibility for overseeing the Hospital Directors in the Mountain West Region. Before that, she served as the hospital administrator of WestVet Boise, having joined forces with Dr. Jeff Brourman in July 2005 when WestVet was established. As a hospital administrator, she gained a strong background in HR, IT, Marketing, Finance, and Operations in a growing emergency and specialty hospital.

Prior to WestVet, Ann was hospital director of the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Idaho (AERCI). Before joining AERCI, Ann was a practice manager and certified technician for a local referral partner.

Ann Selander earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She completed two years of graduate studies in animal behavior before deciding to pursue a veterinary career. She obtained her Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) and spent several years as a practice manager. Then she decided to continue her education, earning her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager Certification (CVPM) in 2005. She also obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2006.

Ann’s interest in the profession goes back to her teens. She once transported her Tonkinese cat down to the local veterinarian on her bike to be treated for worms. After lots of laughter, she was offered a job which she gladly accepted and worked until high school graduation. While there she cleaned kennels, mowed the lawn, took care of weekend boarders, mucked out barns, went on adventures to birth calves and sheep, treat horses, and see the occasional donkey or goat.

Ann has remained in the profession all these years because she adores the people attracted to veterinary medicine. Her career path has also allowed her to explore and develop in numerous aspects of business management.

Ann has two great kids (Ally and Anderson) and a trifecta of Siamese (Cheddar, Willet, and Buxton). In her ‘spare’ time she loves to camp, bird watch, fish, and travel with her family.
