Veterinary Sports Medicine

Ensuring your dog’s optimal health and wellbeing is important for all pet owners. But some dogs, like athletes, service, and working dogs, may benefit from a specialized physical therapy regimen to optimize their agility, strength, and performance. Your family veterinarian may refer you to a specialist with extensive training in orthopedic management and rehabilitation.

Why Choose MedVet Sports Medicine

Our veterinary sports medicine team has years of training and experience working with athletic pets to achieve increased performance in competition events and help prevent injuries. We partner with your family veterinarian to customize a sport-specific conditioning program for your dog’s nutritional, physical, and psychological needs.

We understand the physical demands of working and performance canines and have the advanced training to accurately diagnose and treat them. If your pet is experiencing lameness, soft tissue injuries, chronic pain, joint and ligament issues, or other conditions that prevent them from achieving optimal performance and mobility, our expert team can help. We work in collaboration with your family veterinarian on an individualized program focused on injury prevention, conditioning, and maintenance.

In addition, many other pets can benefit from veterinary sports medicine therapies to maintain body condition, help manage chronic disease, or achieve full recovery after a surgery or injury. We offer customized treatment plans for everyday pets to improve their quality of life.

In our state-of-the-art facilities, your pet receives the most advanced care and procedures from a team who is consistently at the forefront of sports medicine therapy and technology. This experience and expertise make us a preferred partner for many family veterinarians.

What to Expect During an Initial Sports Medicine Visit

When you schedule your appointment, our team will share information about pre-registering for your visit and how to prepare, which may include bringing a list of their medications or foods.

During your pet’s consultation, our team will review your pet’s medical records and discuss your pet’s lifestyle and health history with you. Your pet may need additional testing for a complete exam.

We will talk with you about your pet’s diagnosis and treatment plan and answer any questions you may have. Our team partners with your family veterinarian to provide the best treatment options for your pet.
