Sarah Herres, DVM, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at WestVet Idaho Falls.
Dr. Herres attended the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following earning her veterinary degree, she worked at a large emergency and critical care practice in Phoenix, AZ.
When Dr. Sarah Herres moved to Idaho Falls in 2002, there was not an emergency practice in the area so she began learning small animal daytime practice. She found she missed the unique challenges of emergency medicine and felt this was an unmet need for community pets. In 2007, along with several area veterinarians, Dr. Herres established Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Practice, now WestVet Idaho Falls. In 2010, she became the director and continued working tirelessly to expand the services and quality of care available for those needing emergency care. In 2019, she passed the management reins so she could return to focusing on providing care.
When not in the ER, Dr. Herres is an active member of the community, especially in her children’s schools. She also enjoys the outdoors and never misses an opportunity to explore trails with her family and their dog.
